Books, reflections, and resources for life’s next chapter
Welcome. This is a place for meaningful stories, honest reflection, and curiosity about the lives we are living — created with the hope that something here may stay with you long after you leave the page.
Songbird Cottage Press began with a simple idea: that thoughtful words can sometimes help us see our lives a little differently.
Created by Ross Blair, it is a home for books and conversations about change, direction, work, relationships, curiosity and the pages still waiting to be written.
The first book, page 1, grew from lived experience and the belief that beginning again does not always require us to have all the answers. Sometimes it begins by understanding where we are, what still matters, and what we might choose next.

A Compassionate Guide to Navigating Change, Finding Direction, and Beginning Again
Drawing from lived experience, work, relationships and the questions that emerged from a ninety-day journal, Ross Blair offers a thoughtful companion for anyone navigating change or simply wondering what the next part of life might look like.
Why Songbird Cottage Press?
Songbird Cottage Press is intentionally small, personal and reflective.
It was created as a home for books that come from lived experience and thoughtful observation rather than from the idea that any of us have life completely figured out.
The hope is simple: to create books that give readers somewhere to pause, think, recognise something in themselves and perhaps look at what comes next a little differently.
Meet Ross
Ross Blair is a Scottish-born writer, speaker, father and sales leader whose life has taken him through more than a few unexpected turns.
After building a life and career in the United States, the loss of his wife, Elizabeth, changed much of what had once felt familiar. A blank journal, a simple question — Who am I? — and a growing curiosity about what might come next eventually became the beginnings of page 1.
Ross writes from lived experience rather than from the belief that he has all the answers. His interest is in the quieter questions we sometimes carry about change, work, relationships, purpose and the way we want to live.
He remains Scottish enough to believe that most things are worth considering over a cup of tea, and curious enough to know that the answer may look different tomorrow.
Let us start a conversation.
Whether you have a question about page 1, would like to talk about speaking opportunities, or simply want to share something the book brought to mind, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Sometimes the most meaningful conversations begin with a simple note.
